Dr. Brett Katzen becomes one of the first ophthalmologists in Maryland to offer LenSx Laser technology
Dr. Brett Katzen is now one of the first ophthalmologists in Maryland to offer patients cataract surgery using the LenSx® Femtosecond Laser. This revolutionary technology offers a cutting edge way for surgeons to perform cataract surgery with laser precision. Unlike traditional cataract procedures that use a blade to make incisions in the eye, the LenSx® Laser uses a computer-guided laser to make incisions. This allows cataract surgery to be much more precise and customizable than traditional methods. The results are highly accurate and predictable. This also means less pain during surgery, better vision after surgery, and quicker recovery time.
Cataracts are one of the most common eye conditions affecting adults over the age of 40. It is estimated that more than half of the US population over the age of 80 has at least one cataract. The LenSx® Femtosecond Laser is designed to help those with cataracts prevent further vision loss by removing the cataract without the use of a surgical blade. Dr. Katzen uses a computer to provide the most precise image of you eye possible and then guides the LenSx® Laser over the area of the cataract to gently make small, corneal incisions to remove the cataract.
The LenSx® Femtosecond Laser is one of the most important technological advances in cataract surgery and Dr. Katzen is extremely excited to now offer this option to cataract patients.
