BOTOX ®
In the battle against the effects of aging, BOTOX® Cosmetic has become one of the most popular available options. Simple, non-invasive, and effective, BOTOX® produces quick, long-lasting results in a single treatment.
When injected directly into facial muscles, it blocks the nerve signals that cause those muscles to contract. The targeted muscles gradually relax, and lines, furrows, and creases fade or disappear altogether. This cosmetic procedure is a short-acting but long-term wrinkle-prevention treatment.
How Neuromodukators Work
The lines that appear on your forehead and between your eyebrows are usually caused by the tightening of muscles due to stress or simply habit. After years of stress-related frowning, these lines can become deep furrows. In many cases, these lines make you look older than you are, or make you look perpetually angry or worried. Fine lines and wrinkles can also develop around the mouth through a similar process. These lines are especially common with smokers, who purse their lips repeatedly while smoking.
BOTOX® is administered in small doses directly into the muscles that cause these furrows to appear. The muscles become relaxed, easing frown lines and brow wrinkles. The effects will last as long as four to six months. We can also treat the following:
- Hyperhidrosis – Botox and Dysport can be used to treat excessive sweating of hands, feet, face and underarm
- Migraines—Botox or Dysport can be used to target the pain pathways involved in migraine formation. Botox is FDA-approved for the treatment of migraines, and in certain cases, this may be covered by insurance.
- TMJ Syndrome – Temporomandibular Joint syndrome is also another condition that can be treated with Botox.
Administering BOTOX®
A typical BOTOX® treatment takes less than an hour and is administered in our offices at Katzen Eye Group. BOTOX® is injected in carefully measured doses into the forehead muscles. The fine-gauge needles used for injections cause little to no discomfort, and you can return to everyday activities immediately.
