Cold Weather & Dry Eyes
Winter is Coming!
As we enter into the month of November the weather here in Baltimore is starting to drop. This change in season can cause many potential issues with your eyes, including dry eyes. Cold wind and lower temperatures can cause the drying of your eyes. To offset the dryness often times your eyes will produce extra water to fight off the elements. In extreme weather your eyes can no longer keep up with the tears need to keep your eyes protected, causing red and dry eyes.
How Do I Know If I Have Dry Eye Syndrome?
- Stinging and itching of the eyes
- Excess tearing or sensitivity to light
- Decreased or blurry vision
- Inflammation and redness
- Sandy/gritty feeling
How Can I Protect Myself This Winter?
Before you go trekking through the winter storms, keep a pair of goggles or glasses in your jacket. This simple step can protect your eyes from harsh winds and debris, adding a layer to shield your eyes.
