The Fourth of July is coming up in just a few days. What you may not know is that there are thousands of eye injuries due to fireworks every year, and they don’t happen only to those setting off the fireworks. According to the American Academy of Ophthamology, “in the most severe cases, fireworks can rupture the globe of the eye, cause chemical and thermal burns, corneal abrasions and retinal detachment — all of which can permanently cause eye damage and affect vision.”
